The two questions we get every day: how big should my print be, and how many will fit on a sheet? Here are the real numbers, by garment and by placement.
A DTF gang sheet is 22 inches wide and as long as you need it. Everything else — how big your logo should be, how many copies you can fit, whether you're wasting film — comes down to arithmetic on that 22 inch width. This page has the numbers we use on our own production floor in Regina, so you can size artwork before you ever open the builder.
A gang sheet is one continuous piece of printed film with as many separate designs on it as you can fit. You cut them apart yourself with scissors or a rotary trimmer. You pay for the film area you use, not per design, which is why nesting artwork tightly is the single easiest way to lower your cost per print.
22 inches wide. If a design is wider than 22 inches it has to be rotated, split, or scaled down. Everything under 22 inches can be nested side by side with its neighbours.

If you print the same 12 inch front on a youth small and an adult 3XL, one looks like a billboard and the other looks lost. Most shops run two or three sizes of the same artwork on a single gang sheet — it costs nothing extra because you're paying for area either way.

Here is the practical math. On a 22 inch wide sheet you get two 11 inch designs across, five 4 inch designs across, or six 3.5 inch designs across. Multiply by how many rows you buy in length. These counts assume the 0.25 inch spacing we use by default.

Ours are 22 inches wide and any length you need, billed by the film length your artwork actually uses. Most shops order between 12 and 60 inches at a time.
3.5 to 4 inches wide is the standard. Anything over 5 inches starts reading as a front print rather than a chest logo.
